Here is one of Duke and Tiffin’s favourite snacks…it’s a healthy chip made out of kale! Tiffin’s playmate Raffi was here whilst I was making the chips, think he enjoyed them as much as Tiffin and Duke.  As well as being super healthy, kale is super cheap both fresh or bought in a bag.

Why is kale good for dogs?

Kale is a great source of Vitamins A, C, and K.  It is also low in calories, and is a source of calcium, magnesium, potassium, and beta carotene.  One of the healthiest things you can do for your dog is to add more green and leafy vegetables to their diet.

  • Kale
  • Olive Oil

1. Wash and dry a the kale, pull leaves from the stem and tear into bite size pieces.
2. Add as much of the kale as you can into a heat proof dish (it will shrink in the oven); drizzle a couple of teaspoons of olive oil over the top and mix  to coat.  You only need a light coating of olive oil as too much will make the kale soggy and it won’t crisp up enough.
3. Bake at 170°C until dark green and crispy (not brown or burnt), 12 to 15 minutes.  Turn the kale over every 5 minutes or so, so that each piece crisps up nicely.
4. Once cooled, it is ready to feed to your pooch!  It can be added to their food or given as a snack.
